Day 15: I can't add

I did a hundred extra jumps, because I can't add.

At least not when I'm sweaty and tired.
I'm starting to dread jumping.
Which only makes the jumping worse.
But then after 600 it is fine and I find my groove.
I think I'm psyching myself out.
Now it's 10pm and I really need to cook some veggies for tomorrow.
Ugh.

On the plus side, mango with yogurt is a good dessert.
Also a glass of milk with a kiwi.

  1. Don't think, just pick up the rope and go!

  2. I use dice to keep track. I'm still jumping in sets of 100 or so, since I'm apparently useless with the rope these days. :) Just flip the dice to a new number after the set. You'll never lose track again. Maybe. My brain still likes to skip numbers sometimes.

  3. I'll usually do tick marks, depending on how much I think my mind may wander; at the very least, I've been stopping at the 1/2 way point for a few seconds to make a check. Though the dice also sound like a great idea.

  4. Anything that involves mango or kiwi must be excellent!

  5. If the KLF are right and most hit songs follow a very strict format - 8 bar intro, 16 bar verse, 8 bar chorus, 16 bar verse, 8 bar chorus, 8 bar breakdown, two 8 bar choruses, and an 8 bar outro - then you're looking at about 350 beats per song. Three songs will give you over 1000 jumps. Then you can just jump to the beat and not think too hard about it.

  6. by the way, the pictures you've been finding are hysterical.

  7. I used stones when I was doing numbered jumps. I'd gather up a stone for each 100 jumps I suppose to do (i.e. 6 stones for 600 jumps). When I finished each 100, I would pick up a stone and throw it. (At that time, jumprope was real hard and frustrating for me, so throwing a stone was real cathartic!)

  8. Thanks for the tips. I've been writing down my jump sets, but then the addition bit sometimes trips me up. And Kristen, I'm considering 100-jump sets good and normal... how many could you do on a non-'useless' day? I'm afraid you're showing me up!
